Ulta3 June 2014 Release Review & Swatches

Happy Friday!!

I finally managed to track down the 10 brand new shades that Ulta3 just released in time for Australia's winter. If you aren't familiar with the Australian brand, they are a super cheap, but fantastic formula polish brand that are sold in pharmacies/drugstores here. Most of these were 2 coaters with a couple being three coaters and weren't thin or streaky at all!

Cat Nails For Cass

Hey guys,

Two weeks ago I learned the news that Cassie aka @cassgooner on Instagram had lost her beautiful cat Millie. My heart broke for her instantly as my three cats are like my children and I couldn't imagine what she was going through, nor do I want to.

So when Christine over at Simply Nailogical thought to do this collab to make Cassie hopefully feel a little less sad, I didn't even hesitate. To us without children, our pets are our family and that bond makes our lives whole.

So to remember Cassie's Millie and in recognizing the space our cats hold in our hearts, eight incredibly talented nail artists on Instagram and myself collaborated on a 'cat love for Cassie' nail art collab.

The ladies who took part in #catloveforcassie are: @magnifiquenails @simplynailogical @rillwatermist @narmai @nailsbyrizz @adifferentshadeofpolish @lilyandjinks and @nailsandtowel all on instagram and this was our effort:

And here is a solo shot of my nails:

I started off with a base of OPI 'My Boyfriend Scales Walls' and then using a gel ballpoint pen I drew each kitty outline on my nail, left it to dry and top coated it :) Simple but not easy (SO many were wiped off in my attempt).

A great collab to be a part of for a less than great reason. Crazy cat ladies forever.

I am so sorry for your loss Cass and know Millie went knowing JUST how loved she was by you ♡♡

Busy Little Bee

Hi guys,

I had a super busy weekend and and barely had time to update my instagram, let alone my blog!!

So here is a quick update with just a couple of mani's I have put up on my instagram. I plan on doing a post about my tape striping process which works perfectly 99% of the time. That will be up in the next week.

This One I based off the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team's car colours. I was sitting and watching the Austrian qualifying and nailspiration popped into my head. LOVE when that happens :)

And finally my super girly chevon and dots mani! I used @teismom (on Instagram)'s vinyls that you can get here and used the mini chevron's for this pattern. I am ADDICTED to Linda's nail vinyls! They're so easy to use and super sticky.

So that's been my week so far. Super quick mani's. I can't wait till I can sit and do some detailed stuff because I'm missing it but my templates have been getting a workout with all the ideas I am stockpiling!

Till next time,

Leopard Print Nails

Hi guys,

I finally did my first ever leopard free hand mani!! I paired it with textured polish because I LOVE the stuff.. I have 99% of the OPI Liquid Sands but need all the Zoya's STAT! I am texture obsessed!!

I used all OPI colours: 'My Boyfriend Scales Walls', 'Can't Let Go', 'Vant To Bite My Neck?' & 'You're Such A Budapest'.

I love this colour combo for leopard as I am not the biggest brown fan :P Isn't that texture polish to die for??

I can't believe this is was so simple and wonder why I haven't tried free handed spots before! I can't wait to try this on a mini spot scale next time!

Black & Gold Nails

Hey guys,

My gold flake foil finally arrived last week and I have just been dying to use it! Last night I grabbed it and decided to create a black and gold mani!

I kinda love black and gold together and on my nails I think it really works. Black is my favorite colour and I love dark nails so I usually end up always loving my nails when I do them dark.

I used studs and glitter off eBay to do the other nails and I think its PERFECT! Glitter placement is my favorite thing to do at the moment and I can thank @sinney on instagram for that amazing idea. I wish I had thought of it but it is ALL her! Don't you think it's a perfect look?

Hospitals, Cakes & Sparkly Nails

Hi guys,

I have had an INSANE week. My partner was admitted to hospital last week with a severe case of pneumonia and it was so scary seeing him so sick. Lots of IV's, an oxygen tube, SO much medication and tests. It was the worst week ever and I spent as many hours there as the hospital would let me. He's home now and doing much better but I had no time for nailart when I got home from the hospital each night and apparently nail polish isn't welcome in the respiratory ward of the hospital :P haha

I also was asked to make 24 cupcakes and a cake for a friends mother-in-law's 60th birthday. I'm not a professional cake decorator but I think I nailed it.

The cake was a rich chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese icing and surrounded by patterned white chocolate tiles. The cupcakes were vanilla sponge topped with a vanilla cream cheese and then everything was topped with edible frangipanis that I hand made and decorated.

Anyway onto the nail art! I had a quick hour free last night so I did a really quick glitter placement mani using two OPI polishes.

I used 'OPI.. Eurso Euro' as a base and then I used the glitter out of 'Polka.Com' to do a glitter placement mani! This all took only about 40 minutes and most of that was waiting for the base to dry so this is a really stunning and quick mani that you can go with almost any colour and glitter combo!

Loose glitter would work just as well and you wouldn't have to wait for the base to dry so it would make it so much easier to do. I can't wait to try this with some different colour combinations :)

 Have a fantastic week!

The Fault In Our Stars Nail Art

Hi guys,

So I decided to do a mani that pretty much EVERYONE has already done before me, but since I'm going to see the movie tomorrow (and undoubtedly bawl my eyes out through the entire thing) I thought I would finally do some TFIOS nails! YAY!

I know this is pretty much what EVERY nail artist is doing for their TFIOS nails but it's just so perfect.. why mess with a good thing??

Would you believe that out of the 700ish polishes I owned I had NO aqua to match the book cover?? WHAT?

You KNOW I had to turn to the boyfriend and say 'THIS is why I need more nail polish!'. He was not impressed that I now have a really good reason to buy more when we're out!

Anyone who has read the book understands the significance of the 'Okay? Okay.' quotes which I hand painted on. The base is Sinful Colours 'Why Not' which was the closest blue I had to the book cover and I used nail polish for the bubbles and acrylic paint for the words because they are SO teeny and nail polish just wouldn't have worked on my brush. I used a brush from eBay that was small to begin with but I have trimmed down to about 4-5 hairs in size.

The index and pinkie fingers are a base of 'Why Not' stamped with LA Girls Nail Polish in 'Splash' (now discontinued) on a MoYou London Princess Collection Plate (my faves... seriously!) to get the lettering to mimic the book cover. All topped in Seche Vite.

I love this book and I love my nails almost as much. I cannot wait to see the movie tomorrow!

Have you seen the movie? Read the book? Did it tear out your hear and set it on fire like it did mine??

Inspired By My PJs & A Bow Pattern Tutorial!

Hey guys,

I posted this mani on my Instagram last night and wanted to post a few more pictures on here before I removed it :)

I was totally inspired the other day when i looked down at my pyjamas and decided that putting it on my nails was a necessity.

Super obsessed with these!!

The polishes I used were all OPI (because it's my ultimate fave brand!!
Black Onyx
Alpine Snow
Over & Over A-Gwen
The bow, diamonties and studs are all from eBay

My pyjama pants are covered in a bow print, and when I searched through my plates I realised I had NO bow pattern stamp.. Whatttt?? So I totally just free hand painted them on with polish!! I even created my very FIRST pictorial for you to try it yourself.

The steps are:
1. Start with your base colour.
2. Using a small dotting tool, place dots where you want the bows to go.
3. With a small nail art brush, use nail polish to draw two rounded triangles on each side of the dot to form the bow.
4. And fill them in.
5. Using the same brush, do two lines under the bow (this part is optional.. I just love bow ends!).
6. Using your nail art brush, get the base colour polish again and add the middle knot and folds detailing.
7. Add a topcoat (it smoothes out soo many bumps and inconsistencies!).
8. Add diamonties to the middles of the bows for a little something extra.

I think I made it easy enough to follow and hope the pictures do most of the explaining. It's a really easy process and I surprised myself with how easy it was! Then I felt really stupid for thinking of using a stamp when this was so simple to do myself!

Hope you like it!

Nautical Mani

Hi guys,

Thought I would post my most popular mani so far!! My blog isn't complete without it!

This nautical themed mani was my first ever instagram post to get over 1,000 likes and it currently is at over 2,200!! As a newbie nail artist this was SO exciting for me and got me so many followers!

It was all hand painted with nail polishes and brushes (even though many people assumed the anchor was a painted sticker or transfer) and it was actually my first ever attempt at a nautical mani or painting an anchor! It's definitely one of my favourite mani's ever though (it got to stay on my hands for THREE WHOLE DAYS!).

I can't wait to recreate it in the future.

Polishes I used were all OPI:

Alpine Snow
Honey Ryder
OPI.. Eurso Euro
Love. Angel. Music. Baby

Blank Nail Template For Your Nail Art

Hi guys,

Earlier I posted this photo on my instagram page showing how I keep track of any nail art I plan to do or have seen and want to copy or get inspiration from.

It's perfect for when you get an idea and hate drawing the nail shapes down (I LOATHE doing that because I can never get the sizes right and it just looks bad).

So I have uploaded my template for you all to use as you please!

SAMCRO Style Mani Using Bliss Polish 'Jax'

Hey all!

Quick update of my Jax mani. I did a super quick SAMCRO nail art to make it a bit more biker badass. Will DEF do a more detailed one with a reaper and anarchy symbol when it gets closer to Season 7 premiering!!

Anyone else super excited that they started filming this week? I can't wait to see how Kurt Sutter destroys us this season :P

Jax by Bliss Polish

Hi guys!

I felt like some edgy but chic nails today and HAD to reach for Bliss Polish's Jax. Named after my #1 TV man Jackson Teller from Sons of Anarchy.

Yvette Creates the most bad-ass polishes, but her matte's are out of this world. And this colour is just perfect for Jax. You can buy Jax here. *sigh* If only Charlie Hunnam would arrive in my letterbox instead...

The pictures below are all three thin coats with no top coat taken outside in non-direct sunlight, and then from inside my lightbox. I really wanted to show off it's matte yet glittery goodness. The coats all dry really fast, so even thought I used three to make it opaque, it has the drying time of two thin coats. Super convenient!

Tell me this isn't a perfect gunmetal?? So beautiful!

And now for the lightbox photos.

I honestly love this colour so much. The subtle glitter throughout is is just perfect for this to make the matte really pop. The whole SOA collection is gorgeous and I can't wait to hopefully collect the whole lot. And then there are the new neons she just released.......

Support your indies!

Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea 'Problem' Video Nails

Hi guys!
As you can tell from the pictures, I got 99 problems but my nails won’t be one!

So I woke up this morning to see that the video for Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea and Big Sean - Problem was released and since at the moment it is my JAM right now I had to watch it asap.. And I loved the set and colours SO much I decided to do a mani based on things from the video.

Iggy looked FLAWLESS as per usual but... is it just me or does Ariana need to learn some new things to do with her arms and hands? It just seemed awkward to me how she kept doing the same movements over and over. The girl is so beautiful and talented though I guess it isn't important.

Anyway, if you haven’t seen the video yet you can watch it here:

I mean, come on!! Such a great song! I love the whole Mod thing Ariana is doing at the moment. Her boots are to die for! But this song is just perfect.

So these were the nails I came up with:

I am so obsessed with the diamontied ring finger nail and middle swirl nail and will definitely be recycling that idea in the future!
